Home invasion leads to police chase in Valparaiso

VALPARAISO, Ind. -- A chase triggered by a home invasion ended with one man dead and three others behind bars.

The homeowner told police that four men broke into her home on Wednesday afternoon, attacked her, and stole money and guns.

When they left, the woman's neighbor followed and chased them until they crashed on U.S. 30 in Hobart.

Police said one of the men committed suicide. The other three tan into some nearby restaurants and tried to change clothes.

"I saw someone run past my truck real fast. I jumped out and then heard three gunshots. One of the suspects was running. One of the cops was saying, 'Drop the gun!'" said witness Joe Zaradich.

Two off-duty FBI agents happened to be at a nearby gas station and helped to capture the suspects.
