Hostage situation ends in Illinois

HARVEY, Ill. – Two suspects are behind bars Wednesday signaling the end of a 20-hour-long hostage situation in Illinois.

Two men reportedly held eight people hostage in an overnight police standoff.

Four kids were released Tuesday evening, while the other four – two kids and two adults – were released Wednesday morning.

Police say none of the hostages were injured.

“We went through the door, went to the first floor and rapidly went to the second floor where the hostages were being held, and we were able to take everyone down without injuries to anybody and

shot being fired,” says Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart.

The hostage situation evolved from a break-in when two men fled from one house into another, and that is when they took those in the second home hostage.
