House on Telegraph Street damaged in fire

DOWAGIAC, Mich. – A house on Telegraph Street was damaged in a fire Sunday afternoon.

The Dowagiac Fire Department responded to the fire around 5 p.m.

The three story home suffered minor smoke, heat and water damage on multiple floors of the home.

Firefighters were called at 5:04 and the fire was under control at 5:20 p.m.

Personnel remained on the scene for more than an hour after it was under control for salvage and overhaul operations.

There were no injuries.

The fire is believed to have started in the attic.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Dowagiac Fire and Wayne Township Fire were assisted by Dowagiac Police, Pride Care Ambulance Service, Semco Energy, American Electric Power and Cass County Dispatch.
