Human remains found off McKinley Highway, CMHU investigating
OSCEOLA, Ind. -- The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit is investigating the death of a person whose remains were found off McKinley Highway in Osceola on March 21.
Investigators say a person looking for deer antler sheds found the remains in a wooded area off the highway and notified St. Joseph County Police.
CMHU was activated per protocol to conduct the investigation.
An autopsy was conducted on March 22 on the skeletal remains.
The forensic pathologist was able to determine the body was female, but has requested a forensic anthropologist examine the remains before determining a manner and cause of death.
