Hundreds gather in Mishawaka for National Day of Prayer

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- It's the National Day of Prayer.

On Thursday, hundreds gathered for an event in Mishawaka.

Mayor David Wood was among those in attendance at the Battell Center.

Several prayers were said for our country, schools, and families.

People also gave offerings and praise through song.

"We know this is the way. This is the only thing that is going to help our nation. I think we are going downhill and the only way it's going to... is to get on our knees, or to get in some position and pray," said Mary Snyder, who attended the service.

The event was so packed, the Battell Center had to open another room.

The National Day of Prayer started back in 1952.
