Hundreds of coats to be handed out at annual dinner

Over 600 coats collected by area businesses will be handed out at the Feed our Friends 3rd Annual Holiday Dinner hosted by South Side Inc Sunday.

The organization says the coats were collected by Kem Krest Corporation and MSC employees, collection boxes at local businesses, churches and organizations.

The coats were professionally cleaned and will be officially given out during the event at the Roosevelt Center. 

“It's amazing we pack this building to the gills. We serve people real fast we serve everybody leaves stuffed with a new coat or two. It's great, it's quick, it has a great vibe to it,” says Jason Moreno, president of Board of Directors at South Side Inc. 

According to the organization, there will be free health screenings available for anyone who needs them.

Free smoke detectors will be given out as well.
