I-94 reopens following fatal crash
VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. -- I-94 was shut down for over 4 hours Thursday morning following a fatal crash between a pickup truck and a vehicle, according to Michigan State Police.
Around midnight, a pickup truck traveling eastbound near mile marker 43 stopped abruptly. The driver of the vehicle behind the pickup was unable to stop in time and rear ended the pickup truck, police said.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 51-year-old man from Illinois, was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
The driver of the vehicle behind the pickup truck, a 31-year-old woman from Kalamazoo, was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
