I&M Power interrupts service in South Bend for 1900 customers

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Indiana-Michigan Power announced an unscheduled service interruption for Thursday evening.

I&M told ABC 57 News in a press release that they plan to interrupt service for 1,900 customers in the central part of the city.

The interruption will take place sometime after 6 p.m. and last for only about 5 minutes or less.

The area affected includes Angela Blvd. on the north, Jefferson St. on the south, Ironwood on the east, and Eddy Street on the west.

The reason for the interruption of service is because work is being done at the substation that normally provides power to these customers.

Drivers, be cautious, this will affect traffic signals. I&M said they are coordinating with the City of South Bend for traffic control until power is restored.

Again, do not be alarmed if your power goes out at home. It should be restored within 5 minutes.
