I&M provides an additional $175,000 to help struggling customers
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Indiana Michigan Power is helping struggling customers by providing an additional $175,000 for the Neighbor to Neighbor program and temporarily expanding its guidelines so more people can take part in the benefits.
I&M launched the program back in April of 2019 with $50,000 and an added $48,500 from customer contributions, which has all helped to pay the bills for more than 350 people.
To qualify for Neighbor to Neighbor, customers must have a past-due bill and meet certain income guidelines.
I&M is expanding the income eligibility from 200% to 250% of the Federal Poverty Level until December 31st, with the maximum a family can get being raised from $250 to $350 until the end of the year.
Customers have the ability to donate to the Neighbor to Neighbor program through a one-time contribution, monthly contributions or even rounding up their bill to the next whole dollar.
