Iconic New Jersey amusement pier washed out to sea

SEASIDE HEIGHTS, N.J. -- A popular amusement attraction in New Jersey along the Atlantic Coast is no more thanks to Sandy.

Half of the iconic amusement pier was washed out, and the amusement rides are in the ocean now.

The pier itself was picked up and washed onto the boardwalk.

The Star Jet roller coaster is still standing, but it is now several hundred yards out in the ocean.

"We'll rebuild. There is no question in my mind we'll rebuild it," Governor Chris Christie said. "But for those of us that are my age, it won't be the same."
