The History Museum launches crowdfunding campaign to receive matching grant for Navarre Cabin

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A new crowdfunding campaign will help The History Museum improve and enhance its immersive experience of early settler and pioneer life with the creation of The Navarre Homestead, surrounding the 1820 Pierre Navarre Log Cabin recently relocated to the museum's campus.
If the crowdfunding campaign is successful and the museum reaches the goal of $50,000 by July 13, this project led by the History Museum will receive a dollar-for-dollar matching grant as part of the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority's CreatINg Places program, for a total of $100,000.
"The History Museum is thrilled that the IHCDA is helping us to facilitate another improvement through community-based support,” says Brian Harding, Executive Director of The History Museum. “The Homestead will provide tremendous learning opportunities and a neighborhood gathering space complementing The History Museum’s historic gardens and galleries."
The funds will allow for necessary repairs to the Cabin walls and windows, a portable ramp for handicapped access, and site preparation including tree trimming, split rail fencing, and more. For more information on the crowdfunding campaign and The History Museum can be found online.
