LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- A Naperville, Illinois man is in custody after allegedly wrong-way driving on the Indiana Toll Road.

The alleged incident happened at 11:20 p.m. CST in La Porte County. Indiana State Police officials say 51-year-old Kamal Abdallah was traveling at full highway speeds westbound in the eastbound lanes. Several cars reportedly had to swerve out of the way.

ISP officials say troopers found pills of a controlled substance when impounding the vehicle, as well as a marijuana vape pen.

Abdallah was arrested for Reckless Driving, Operating While Intoxicated on a Controlled Substance, Operating While Intoxicated, Operating While Intoxicated - Endangerment, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Paraphernalia, and Possession of Marijuana - all misdemeanors.

He was taken to the La Porte County Jail.
