Indiana 6-year-old student facing battery charges

SHELBYVILLE, Ind. -- In Shelbyville a 6-year-old boy is facing battery charges.

Police say he kicked his principal and threatened a teacher. It happened at Hendricks Elementary School.

The boy told police the devil made him do it.

"This was kind of a culmination of a lot of other things," said Hendricks Elementary School Principal Pat Lumbley. “This student is a good student just having some difficulties."

The student was suspended for hitting and biting a teacher. He's since been allowed back at school.
