Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita says he will fully cooperate with the Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission's investigation into his handling of a controversial case.
The Commission is investigating Rokita for public comments he made about his legal pursuit of Indianapolis Doctor Caitlin Bernard.
Rokita has accused Dr. Bernard of failing to report a 10-year-old Ohio girl's rape, when Bernard provided that child abortion services. Dr. Bernard is also defending her medical license after Rokita's claim she violated HIPAA by talking about the case to the media.
The Disciplinary Commission's investigation seems to be linked to the AG publicly discussing his investigation into the doctor.
"Well, except [my comments] complied with the law," Rokita told ABC57 in an exclusive interview.
Rokita, who made national news with the Bernard case, says he will fully cooperate with the Commission.
"If there is a different interpretation of that law that is ultimately made, I'm happy to follow it. But I had every intent at the time, and still do, to follow the law," Rokita said. "I also, as a statewide elected official in this state, have a duty to inform the people of this state about what I'm doing."
Rokita says despite the review into his own office, he plans to see the Bernard case through.
