Indiana firearm licensing to switch to online applications

Handguns in Indiana will be harder to obtain starting the last week of March.

Starting Monday, state police will only take handgun license applications online. They will no longer be available on paper.

This will make it difficult for anyone without internet access or a computer to obtain a handgun.

La Porte police are encouraging people to head to a friend's house or the public library for access.

After filling out the online application, applicants then have to get fingerprints taken as well as get a local background check.
