Indiana Michigan Power begins aerial tree trimming

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Indiana Michigan Power has begun its work trimming trees around transmission power lines in northern Indiana on Wednesday. The plan is to use a helicopter with an aerial saw.

Tree trimming got underway on September 30th and will continue from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. everyday except Sundays in October in the counties of Allen, DeKalb, Noble, Kosciusko, Elkhart, Whitley, Huntington, Grant, Wabash, and Wells.

The work is routine maintenance designed to remove branches above or near the power lines that could cause issues.

The tool used to trim the branches is a vertical series of sawblades mounted on a vertical boom that hangs from the bottom of the helicopter.
