Indiana school bus safety belts may be out of reach

INDIANA -- Indiana officials want to make school buses safer.

They're talking about adding safety belts, but that might be out of reach.

The state's director of school transportation said it would cost about $160 million to equip all of Indiana’s 16,000 school buses with seat belts and unfortunately that's not in the budget.

This push for safety comes on the heels of Monday’s deadly crash in Indianapolis.

The bus driver and a 5-year-old student die when their school bus crashed into a concrete pillar. Ten other students were also hurt.

Two people are currently still in the hospital in critical condition.
