INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- An Indiana Senate Committee sent State Bill 1, which bans most abortion procedures, to the full Senate on Tuesday.
The 7-5 vote means that anyone under the age of 16 who is raped would be able to get an abortion up to 12 weeks of pregnancy.
Anyone older than 16 could only get an abortion up to 8 weeks of pregnancy.
The committee also defeated amendments that would allow abortion by telemedicine and that would grant a tax deduction and child support for fetuses.
