Indiana State Fair Coliseum gets new name

A state landmark that has hosted Mohammed Ali, Elvis Presley, and The Beatles is getting a new name.

The Indiana State Fair Coliseum will now be known as Indiana Farmers Coliseum.

Carmel-based Indiana Farmers Mutual Insurance Company is behind the name, and the shelled out $6 million for the naming rights over the next ten years.

Farmers Mutual mascot Garfield will now share the stage with hockey team Indy Fuel mascot Nitro.

“This is more than a name on a building. This is more than a cat sitting on the stage or Nitro standing beside the stage. This is really a true partnership with a company that has the same values, a similar history, and understands this historic coliseum,” says Executive Director of Indiana State Fair Commission Cindy Hoye.

The company's name will soon be added to the sign, along with Garfield's image added to the top of the building.
