Indiana State Police trooper killed in crash

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. -- An Indiana State Police trooper was killed in a single vehicle crash Friday night while responding to a call, according to ISP.

Police said Trooper Peter Stephan, 27, was traveling northbound on Old State Road 25 when his patrol car left the roadway, rolled and struck a utility pole.

Trooper Stephan was headed to assist another trooper.

Stephan was pronounced dead at the scene.

Trooper Stephan is survived by his wife and six month-old daughter.

“This is a tremendously sad day for the entire Indiana State Police family.  We will band together as we always do in support of Trooper Stephan’s family, friends and co-workers”, said Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas G. Carter.
