INDOT wants drivers to prepare for winter

Michiana has already had its first taste of what Mother Nature has in store for us this winter and if you were not ready then INDOT wants you to get prepared now.

This week is Winter Weather Preparedness Week.

INDOT reps say one of the best ways drivers can be prepared for bad weather is to give their plow crews room to work to keep everybody safe when the roads get slick.

"We can't move over all the time, otherwise, we'd never get the center clean. If they could move over just slightly, and be aware that we're not trying to push them off the road, but we're trying to clean up the center for them," said INDOT plow driver David Pennington.

They also suggest that you clear off your entire vehicle before you hit the road, not just your windshield and allow plenty of time to get wherever you need to go.
