Inmate injured in fire at Indiana State Prison in Michigan City

ABC 57 MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- The Indiana Department of Correction confirmed an investigation is underway after an inmate was injured in a fire on the evening of March 15 at the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City.
IDOC says the fire started around 9:30 p.m. in one of the inmate's cells.
The report states the fire was contained to the cell where it began.
Prison staff, including the onsite fire department, responded to the area, extinguishing the fire upon arrival.
IDOC's preliminary investigation determined an inmate tampered with something, causing a spark in the cell where the fire started.
The inmate sustained injuries from the fire and received treatment at the hospital.
