ELKHART, Ind. -- The Interurban Trolley is extending its free K-12 Summer Travel Program through the end of the calendar year, officials announced this week.
The program provides free transportation aboard all Interurban Trolley fixed-route buses for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. The extension comes through collaboration with the Mayor’s Office, City Council, and Elkhart Community Schools.
To ride for free, students must present a valid school ID or a Summer Travel Pass when boarding. Students who are homeschooled or attend schools that do not issue IDs can contact the Michiana Area Council of Governments at 574-674-8894 to obtain a pass.
The initiative is designed to give young people safe, reliable access to transportation across the region.
