Irish 6-0, brings Michiana dough

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Fighting Irish’s successful season is bringing in customers to Michiana.

Notre Dame is now 6-0 after an overtime win against Stanford Saturday, and fans were happy to spend money afterwards.

Made in Michiana is located in downtown South Bend and sells items made by local artists.

Owners said it’s a trend when Notre Dame wins that fans are usually more likely to stick around and spend money.

"The alumni start coming in on Thursdays, they come in find our shops, we take advantage of all the hotel business," said Jackie Bauer.

Co-owner Jackie Bauer said fans start trickling in on Thursdays over game weekends.

"They shop Friday, Saturday, they shop game day, and if Notre Dame’s winning they stay and shop Sundays," said Bauer.

The ripple effect also made its way to Mishawaka.

Fun F/X sells all things "fun." This is already a busy time of year for the store with Halloween costumes, but the Irish fans are sweetening the deal.

"Notre Dame doing well just makes everybody feel better, at least everyone around here that’s a Notre Dame fan, and even if you’re not, it helps the general economy in the area," said store owner Victor Cao.

The owners said they hope the Irish continue to do well, that way the customers keep coming in.
