Irish QB Gunner Kiel honors his uncle

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- There was a touching tribute on the field Saturday.  

Quarterback Gunner Kiel traded in his number 1 jersey for number 5. 

It was to honor his uncle Blair Kiel who died April 8th. 

We spoke to Gunner about his uncle, "I know he is going to be a guardian angel for me now and he is going to be there with me every game, every snap he is going to be there. Its going to be a great feeling going out there and emotional too whenever I go out there for the spring game. But, I know he is going to be in the stands cheering me on." 
 
Blair Kiel played at Notre Dame in the early 80's and went on to play in the NFL.  He died of natural causes at the age of 50.
