Irish veterans helping Freshman players learn the ropes

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- The rain did not keep the Fighting Irish off the practice field.

Notre Dame had its sixth football practice Thursday morning on campus.

The season opener is just a couple of weeks away.

Team veterans like Jamoris Slaughter said they are working hard to prepare for the season and help out the new freshman.

"I remember coming in as a Freshman and not knowing anything. It feels good that you can teach somebody," Slaughter said. "I think the Freshman, they're catching on quick. They're always asking to be in the film room, always asking for pointers and help."

This is Slaughter's final year of eligibility.

Notre Dame kicks off the season Sept. 1 against Navy in Ireland.
