Isaac closing in on U.S. Gulf Coast

Tropical Storm Isaac is predicted to grow into a Category 2 hurricane.

Meteorologists at this point say it looks like the storm will hit Southern Louisiana or Mississippi, late Tuesday and there could be severe flooding from rainfall.

They say Isaac will likely reach landfall just a day before of the seventh anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

Evacuations are advised in some parts of Louisiana.

The president has declared a state of emergency allowing FEMA to take control of the recovery effort of whatever Isaac may bring.

Eyes are turning to the city's levees in New Orleans. They couldn't hold up nearly seven years ago when Hurricane Katrina’s floodwaters broke through.

Now many people are left wondering if the Crescent City can withstand another storm. City leaders say they have a good plan in place and hundreds of millions of dollars in improvements have been made to the levees, canals and pumping stations.
