ISP: Indiana Voter Registration Project investigation expands

Indiana State Police say the investigation into alleged fraudulent voter registration applications has expanded to additional counties.

The counties now included in the investigation are Allen, Delaware, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson, Lake, Madison and Marion.

As part of the expanded investigation, police served a search warrant for the business offices of the Indiana Voter Registration Project in Indianapolis on October 4.

Police expect the investigation to last several more weeks or months.

Because of the sensitive nature of the investigation, police want residents to know all voter registrations suspected of being fraudulent were copied. The originals are with the appropriate voter registration office.

Police said the possible fraudulent or false information is a combination of made up names and made up addresses, real names with made up or incorrect addresses and false dates of births with real names as well as combinations of all these examples.
