ISP investigating death of inmate at Marshall Co. Jail

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. – Indiana State Police are conducting an investigation into the death of an inmate at the Marshall County Jail.

Police were contacted Wednesday at 2:51 a.m.

Jail staff were alerted by an inmate that a bunkmate was suffering a medical episode around 1 a.m., police said.

Jail staff began life saving efforts after the 61-year-old became unresponsive.

The inmate was taken to the hospital in Plymouth where he was later pronounced deceased.

An autopsy is scheduled for later Wednesday.

The inmate’s name is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
