SOUTH BEND, Ind – There is a new chancellor at the South Bend Elkhart Campus of Ivy Tech Community College.
Doctor David Balkin will replace Doctor Thomas Coley who retired this May.
One goal of the new chancellor is to make a stronger connection between the school and the community.
“More than anything it’s cultivating the relationships we need for long term successful implementation of curriculum here. So again I’m thrilled to be here and I’m really excited to be engaged with the community in a more direct way,” Doctor Balkin said.
Doctor Balkin had been working at the University of Notre Dame for the past five years.
He said he is eager to begin his new chancellor position with Ivy Tech.
