ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. - After dying in a tragic car crash last summer, the late congresswoman, Jackie Walorski, is being remembered by Elkhart County commissioners by naming a stretch of road in her honor.
It's typical to name a building or a roadway after someone who has had a significant impact in a community and that's why leaders say this is the perfect way to celebrate all the congresswoman did for her community.
Dean Swihart, husband of the late Jackie Walorski, stated, “This is way cool to have this opportunity to name a road after my wife. She worked so hard for the people of the second district. And it's just been a wonderful honor today.”
Walorski Parkway now runs between County Road 19 and County Road 17, right in front of the new Amazon shipping facility in Elkhart.
