So far, this January in Michiana has been notably colder than usual, already running an entire degree below the monthly average, and the month is not even complete! This is a stark contrast to the past two years.
January 2024 was over two degrees above normal, and January 2023 nearly 10 degrees warmer. This year could mark the first below-average January in several years.
This upcoming Tuesday, January 21st, we are expecting temperatures to reach as low as -4°F. This is extremely cold; however, it is still far from record lows we’ve seen in the past on January 21st. In years past, we’ve seen temperatures well below zero, even as recent as 2019!
If current patterns persist, January 2025 will be a significantly colder month than recent years.
