ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- A 15-year-old has been arrested on preliminary charges related to the shooting at Castle Point on Saturday evening, according to the St. Joseph County Police Department.

The juvenile is facing preliminary charges of criminal recklessness and pointing a firearm, which would be level 6 felonies if committed by an adult.

At a detention hearing Wednesday afternoon, the juvenile was ordered detained at the Juvenile Justice Center.

An initial hearing has been set for July 14.

Police said the 10-year-old girl who was shot in the face remains hospitalized but has been walking around and is in good condition.

The shooting happened at a gathering of pre-teens and teens, with no adult supervision. The sheriff reminds parents and adults to know and be aware of where their children are hanging out and who they are around.
