Keg falls from bed of teen's truck in front of officers

Indiana State Excise Police Officers ticketed an 18-year-old Tuesday after they witnessed a keg of beer fall out of the bed of the pickup truck he was driving, according to reports.

Excise Police say the keg of beer fell from the truck when the tailgate gave way. The keg rolled down South Bend Avenue near Charles Street.

One officer directed traffic around the keg and another stopped the driver of the truck.

The driver, 18-year-old Scott Benge, was issued a summons to appear for illegal transportation of an alcoholic beverage.

While conducting patrols for St. Patrick's Day, Excise Police officers issued summonses to 12 minors for illegal possession or consumption of an alcoholic beverage.

Four of the minors were also charged with possession of false identification.

Eight adults were issued summonses for furnishing alcohol to a minor.

Three other adults were issued tickets for traffic offenses.
