Keke Palmer added to GMA's third hour with Strahan and Sara

Michael Strahan and Sara Haines welcomed Keke Palmer as the third co-host of the third hour of “Good Morning America” on Monday.

The actress and television personality joins the ABC daytime show, now called “GMA3: Strahan, Sara & Keke.”

When announcing Keke’s permanent role on the show, Sara Haines said, “Keke was so great. She came in this summer when I was on maternity leave. We love Keke because she stepped up to the plate and joined our family and carried the ball.”

Michael added, “What you have done is amazing and we appreciate you. We love you. You add to so much of what we do here. This is not just a gift for us. It’s a gift for America.”

Keke is already well known to the show’s viewers after filling in this summer while Sara was on maternity leave. As guest co-host Keke dished on the latest drama from “The Bachelorette,” competed against The Real Housewives of New York in a heated cooking challenge, led summer workouts in Times Square and caught up with some of the show’s favorite celebrities.

After the announcement, Keke said, “You guys have always embraced me and it means so much to me. It means a lot to have your support.”

The second season of the ABC daytime show starts September 9.

“It’s been a blast having Keke co-host this summer. She brings a unique and spontaneous energy viewers love.  She’s a multitalented artist, and I’m thrilled to have her join Michael and Sara every day,” said Rory Albanese, Executive Producer. “The three of them are a terrific team, it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Keke is known for her roles in “Scream Queens” and “True Jackson, VP.” She has been a part of the Disney family from a young age starring in the Disney Channel Original Movie Jump In!

The SAG nominated actress made history as the youngest TV talk show host ever with her BET show “Just Keke.” She starred in Emmy-winning Grease Live!, the critically acclaimed movie Akeelah and the Bee and the upcoming film Hustlers alongside Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu and Cardi B.

Her career extends beyond television and film. Keke has released two music albums and starred as Cinderella on Broadway. She currently hosts a Snapchat series called Keepin’ It Real with Keke Palmer.
