Kelly reiterates he wants to stay at Notre Dame in 2017

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -

Head Coach Brian Kelly reiterated early Sunday morning he wants to stay at Notre Dame.

Reports surfaced Saturday night that Kelly was exploring other coaching options outside of Notre Dame, but Kelly made it clear in a statement he wants to remain at Notre Dame for 2017.

"I felt I was clear with the media following yesterday's game at USC when I was asked about my desire to be back as the head football coach at Notre Dame, but in light of media reports that surfaced afterward, let me restate my position. I have not been, am not, and will not be interested in options outside of Notre Dame. I'm fully committed to leading this program in the future," Kelly said.

Yahoo's Pat Forde and ESPN Brett McMurphy both said they talked with sources close to Kelly and said through his representatives he was looking at options outside of Notre Dame. Kelly said prior to Forde's report that he was "absolutely going to be back at Notre Dame.
