Kentucky Derby tightens security

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The annual Kentucky Derby averages more than 150,000 people, so officials at the race Saturday made sure that the location was secure.

There was heavier security and new restrictions on what was allowed inside the Churchill Downs.

"After Boston these big events cannot even begin to roll the dice and say maybe we can skip here or there," said USA Today sports columnist Christine Brennan. "They've got to go all in."

Saturday's race went off without a hitch. The winner of this year's derby was Orb.
