Kids explore history with war recreation in South Bend

A World War II recreation was held Thursday in South Bend.

It all went down at Viewing Park just off of Northside Boulevard.

Kids had the opportunity to ride in landing crafts used in the war as part of the activities brought to the city by a group called Lest We Forget.

"The children nowadays I don't think they really understand it, there are very few of these vehicles running. It's amazing a lot of people who come, like the moms, don't think they're going to enjoy it, and they really end up having a good time so it's a really good family event,” said Mark Parren, the Event Organizer.

Today's events were all aimed at honoring the men and women who served in the war.

The event will happen again at Viewing Park from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
