“Kids to Parks Day” is returning to South Bend on May 15
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- South Bend Venues Parks & Arts will be celebrating the 12th Annual “Kids to Parks Day” on May 15 at Leeper Park.
“Kids to Parks Day” is the national day of outdoor play that focuses on encouraging kids and families to get active and connected with nature.
These activities are also located in community areas to increase traffic and familiarity of local and public parks.
South Bend’s celebration of the day at Leeper Park will include live performances, rock wall climbing, art activities, food trucks and more.
The first 400 guests will also receive a free hotdog with plenty of picnic areas to utilize.
A variety of local organizations and departments will be in attendance for families to learn, receive informational resources and sign up for adult and youth recreational programs.
“With Summer just around the corner, we really want to encourage families to get outside and play, and kickoff their Summer season by celebrating, appreciating, exploring and discovering not only our parks, but also key community resources,” said Jonathan Jones, VPA Director of Recreational Activities.
This event is also free to the public while offering safe and socially distanced environment.
Face masks will be mandatory for all staff and volunteers and are highly recommended for guests.
