ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - The 2023 Knute Rockne Spirit of Sports Awards Celebration will be held on Friday starting at 11 a.m. at the Morris Inn at Notre Dame. ABC57's Allison Hayes will host the event. 

The annual celebration honors Rockne Award recipients. This year's Rockne Living Legend Award will be given to Thom Gatewood, class of 1972. Gatewood is an All-American wide receiver and College Football Hall of Famer, and was the first African American captain of Notre Dame football. 

Other honorees this year include:

• Kevin Corrigan, NCAA champion men's lacrosse coach
• Jack Nolan, retired long-time ND broadcaster
• Larry Dwyer, assistant director of Notre Dame bands
• Missy Conboy, ND senior deputy athletic director
• Michael Leep Sr., South Bend businessman and philanthropist
• Jim "Augie" Augustine, curator of Notre Dame collectibles 

Community members are invited to attend the awards.
