A fire in South Bend leaves building ablaze
BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. – Hannah Kim is raising awareness about a memorial yet to be built for Korean War veterans.
According to Kim, the “Wall of Rememberance” was approved by Congress in 2016 but with a lack of funding it was never built.
An estimated 37 thousand Americans who lost their lives in Korea have yet to be inscribed.
Kim is hopeful that her three month journey will gather support, especially in Michigan with one of the largest casualty rates from the conflict in Korea.
“I’m traveling to all 50 states to remind America that the Korean War wasn’t in some foreign country, fought by foreign people but it was, you know, from your own home town, your own home state,” said Kim.
Kim’s next stop is Detroit where she hopes to continue the momentum.
