KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. -- The Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office released the cause of Ayden Adee's death on Saturday following his discovery on Friday.

Ayden Elijah Adee, 12, died as a result of self-inflicted injuries, County Coroner Anthony Ciriello reports.

According to police, his body was found on Friday around 12 p.m. after a search was conducted.

Police utilized drones and search dogs in the process, but Adee was not located until Friday.

Whitko Community Schools, where Adee attended, made a statement regarding his death on Saturday.

The school corporation said to the community in part, "As our students return to school on Monday, we will have mental health professionals, counselors and ministerial staff from within the community ready to support students and staff during this time of tragedy. As we grieve together, let’s lean on one another and depend on each other for support."

The Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office will not release any more information at this time out of respect for Adee’s family.
