The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department is investigating a single-car crash on County Road 100 West, near the intersection of County Road 1300 South.
Emergency crews responded Monday at 2:17 to the scene of the crash. Crews found a 1996 Buick Skylark that had struck a concrete post. The driver, Franklin P. Rice, 30, of Silver Lake, was found unconscious.
Rice was airlifted to Parkview Regional Medical center in Ft. Wayne with serious internal injuries.
A preliminary investigation has determined that Rice was driving northbound on County Road 100 West when one of his tires blew out.
Sheriff's deputies say Rice's car apparently drove off the road, striking a bridge guardrail, and then running into the concrete post.
