La Porte County Deputies catch armed fugitive during snowy weather

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. - La Porte County Deputies say around 9:30 a.m. Friday, they responded to a home in the 700 block of Dorothy Lane for a welfare check, at which point they realized a wanted person, 26-year-old Beck A. Serles, was staying at the residence.

Authorities say shortly after arriving, deputies learned Serles had just fled the home.

While searching the neighborhood, Serles was spotted on Lura Lane by a deputy.

Serles was ordered to stop; however, police say he disobeyed and continued to flee.

Deputies continued to pursue Serles when officials found his footprints in the fresh snow leading them to a storage unit attached to the garage of a home on Lura Lane.

Authorities converged on the unit and gave Serles commands to exit. Serles was found standing inside the structure, at which point he was taken into custody.

Serles was arrested for possession of a firearm, prior conviction, a level five felony, residential entry, a level six felony, resisting law enforcement, a class A misdemeanor, and a Marshall County Warrant for theft, a misdemeanor.

Serles remains in the La Porte County Jail, held without bond.
