La Porte man killed in crash on SR 39

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- A 31-year-old man from La Porte was killed in a crash on SR 39 Saturday evening, according to the , La Porte County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were called to SR 39 near the entrance ramp to the Indiana Toll Road around 8:15 CT for a rollover crash.

The investigation revealed a 28-year-old woman from South Bend was driving the SUV north on SR39 when the vehicle left the roadway on the east side, rolled several times, became upright and traveled back onto SR39 before coming to a stop, deputies said.

The driver was taken to the hospital for treatment of an upper body injury.

Passenger Lawrence Homan, 31, of La Porte, was ejected from the vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol and toxicology tests are pending.

The crash remains under investigation.
