Lanes closed, no serious injuries reported in fiery truck crash near state line
BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. - No serious injuries have been reported in connection with a fiery crash involving two vehicles on U.S. 31 Tuesday afternoon, according to Michigan State Police.
Emergency crews were called to the area, near the state line in Bertrand Township, just after 1 p.m. to investigate.
The northbound lanes of U.S. 31 are shut down near mile marker 2. Traffic is being rerouted through a rest stop in the area.
According to the investigation, a semi-truck was traveling north on the road when it hit a box truck that was contracted for the Michigan Department of Transportation. Though working for MDOT, the box truck was not owned by the department.
The lanes are expected to be closed for a while crews clean up.
Anyone traveling in the area is asked to use an alternate route.
