ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- St. Joseph County Parks will be hosting a free Parent-Child Fishing Derby at St. Patrick’s County Park on Sunday.

The event is a friendly catch and release competition where kids, ages five to ten, can team up with an adult to fish for the most number fish and the longest fish. Prizes will be awarded for each respective category.

Participants will be supplied with free bait and fishing equipment for the event.

The derby will be hosted at St. Patrick’s Park on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Check-in will be located at the park’s Brown Barn at 9:30 a.m. that morning.

Sunday is one of Indiana’s “Free Fishing Days”, meaning any Hoosier can go fishing without needing a fishing license.

Wednesday is the last day to register for the event. Call 574-654-3155 for more information and to reserve a spot in Sunday’s derby.
