The best fall color peak happens when all of the trees turn at once, but that will not be happening this year. It's been a slow process due to the abnormally warm days and nights. What we can expect this season, is that early peaking trees will be losing their leaves by time the later trees peak, hindering the full color potential.
With that in mind, here is the foliage forecast for next weekend (Oct. 28/29):
- There will start to be areas in the Upper Peninsula and northern Michigan passing peak.
- Most of Michigan should be nearing or at peak.
- Northern Indiana should be nearing or at peak.
- Central and southern Indiana will still be turning.
