ELKHART, Ind. – The League of Women Voters and the NAACP of Elkhart are working together to sponsor an in-person forum for school board candidates. The event is happening at the St. James AME Church on MLK Jr. Drive.

Masks are mandatory for the event and social distancing will be employed.

The contested races for District C and D are as follows:

    • Douglas Weaver
    • Casey Zitkus
  • District D
    • Danny Brown
    • Dacey Davis

“We are so excited to sponsor this event with the League of Women Voters of Elkhart County. The School Board Candidates from contested races will have an opportunity to speak directly to voters and make their case for support on October 6th,” said Ron Davis, President of the Elkhart Branch of the NAACP.

“Candidates will have the opportunity to introduce themselves, answers questions from the moderator and meet and greet voters after the question and answer session. I will be the moderator and with in-person absentee voting starting on October 6th at the Lincoln Center this forum is very timely and important,” said Janet Evanega, President of the League of Women Voters of Elkhart County.

In addition to being in-person, the event will be live streamed on Facebook.
