ELKHART, Ind. — Leer Group, a truck accessory company with a base in Elkhart for more than 60 years, has now moved into the old JCPenney building on the former Concord Mall property.

The surrounding area is now the “Concord Business Park” and features several light manufacturing businesses.

Leer Group President and COO Alan Farash provided ABC57 with the following statement:

“This facility will play a key role in delivering truck accessories and parts to customers nationwide, reinforcing our commitment to operational excellence and customer service. In 2026, we are focused on transitioning some staff into the new offices and optimizing distribution processes to better serve our growing customer base.”

The Elkhart Area Plan Commission also approved an amendment Monday to the Planned Unit Development of the property, which is owned by Elkhart Concord LLC.

The change allows Elkhart Concord LLC to sell the old JCPenney building, which is now separate from the rest of the complex to Leer Group.

First district Councilman and plan commission member, Aaron Mishler, says he’s still hoping for more mixed-use developments to come to the property in the future.

Leer Group confirms they don’t currently have any plans to expand on the Concord property beyond the old JCPenney building.
